If you run a business in the UK, you'll know all too well how important it is to keep up with the latest regulations and best practise procedures for your industry.

the WWW is no different. The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) develops interoperable technologies (specifications and guidelines), including initiatives and guidelines for :-

• Web Content Accessibility
• Semantic Web
• Use of valid (X)HTML
• Use of extensively valid CSS

We believe it's really important to follow these guidelines when developing a website, so we can be sure that your site can be developed in the future without incurring unnecessary costs.

UK Law

Like most laws, those relating to your web site make it your responsibility to ensure compliance. We think it's important, though, that if we are aware of a law which may affect you, that we tell you about it and advise you how to incorporate compliance within your web site design.

Accessibility

Web accessibility is required by law in a growing number of countries. In the UK, it is the responsibility of the website owner, that's you, to ensure that your website is accessible to blind and disabled users. The legislation was introduced under the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA). As yet, it is somewhat unspecific in terms of what constitutes an accessible website, however, there are clear guidelines set out by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), through the WAI, which we work hard to deliver against.

Company Information

If you are a Limited Company in the UK, you must include certain regulatory information on your website and in your email footers before 1st January 2007 or you will breach the Companies Act and risk a fine - currently £1000.
